April 2025 in review

My monthly series

Cherry blossoms near Bataan Memorial, Santa Fe, NM.

This is the thirtieth post in my Month in review series.

We’re moving back to Canada by the end of this year!

I’m taking in one last deep breath of Spring in New Mexico.

Wedding

We got married! 💞

Road trip to Death Valley

One day during our stay in Las Vegas, NV, we rented a car and drove to Death Valley National Park in California, to retrace some locations and landmarks of Debarati’s grad school thesis field work. This included a revisit the Amargosa Opera House to see how Martha Becket’s legacy is holding. It had not been maintained over the last 5 years, and has even further fallen into abandonment since the COVID-19 pandemic. Sadly, the dancer’s dresses and their display room are disintegrating. It wasn’t possible to see inside the opera house, it was closed.

Month activities

After coming back home, we went back to planning our move to Canada. There is still lots of paperwork, documentation and research to be done, and we are busy most week nights and week ends.

Despite this, we had time for a few dinner dates, a post-wedding dinner with neighbours, and a few outings in Santa Fe.
