July 2025 in review

My monthly series

Santa Fe train station.

This is the thirty-second post in my Month in review series.

By July, we were already very much in the planning and paperwork phase of our immigration to Canada project. That’s why I’m 6 months behind in my monthly series. But the urge to communicate and share stories and art is still there. I kept journaling and taking pictures until I had more time to organize and write my blog posts. The posts from July 2025 to February 2026 have been written in February 2026 and posted at the same time in March.

Month activities

In a few months, we will leave New Mexico. It’s starting to feel like we are doing things for the last time. And we have little time left to do all the things we haven’t done yet.

  • Going to a view point on a hill to watch US Independence Day fireworks all over the city. Lots of people were shooting backyard fireworks. In previous years, we heard the fireworks in all directions around the house. This is the first time we had a panoramic view of what it looked like.
  • The Opera, to watch a dress rehearsal, thanks to a friend of a friend who works at the venue.
  • Dinner at our neighbour’s house.
  • Lunch at Fiesta Oaxaca, one of our favourites in Santa Fe.
  • The International Folk Art Market, a big annual event in Santa Fe. I’m grateful we had the chance to experience this. It’s very big and has so many fascinating crafts and artefacts.

Photography

I am writing this post in Winnipeg in February and I am so happy I took so many pictures of sunsets and clouds while I was in Santa Fe!
