Magnetic knife holder

In my opinion, a magnetic holder is the best organizer for knives. Knives are tools of high precision, literally at the molecular scale. Their metal is sensitive to chemical deterioration through oxydation, and the sharp edge is fragile to physical deformation when in contact with any other solid material. The magnetic holder protects the sharp edge from contact with any other solid while not in use.

The best spot for a knife holder in my apartment is a wall of ceramic tiles. In order to avoid drilling holes in the tiles, I varnished a plank of 1×3 wood, which I fixed in place using two shelf brackets screwed into the bottom of the overhead cabinets.
